To apply for a federal license to operate fixed odds betting and online games in Brazil, the key deadline ended last August 20. This is with the Betting Management System of the Ministry of Finance or SIGAP registering 113 applications for accreditation.
Before the deadline, in the last 24 hours, 52 companies submitted applications for authorization. One of them is Caixa Loterias. Registration is compulsory. Betting companies that want to start on 2025 with legal operations should register according to the guidelines and ordinances of the SPA/MF 827/24 of the Ministry of Finance. They must also pay a fee of BRL 30 million or $5.5 million. The amount collected by the Treasury will be almost BRL 3.4 million or $625 million with the 113 applications.
A commitment to provide a response by the end of the year to the bookmakers that applied by the key deadline was given by the federal government. After the 20th, any operator that applied will likely start next year. This is when all the rules of the regulation come into force without a federal license. As a result, they will be left without official authorization to operate in the national market. They will also be subjected to sanctions.
