Robinhood Markets of HOOD is widening its crypto offerings for US traders. It adds tokens such as Solana or SOLUSD and meme coin Pepe or PEPEUSD. The frenzy continues for Bitcoin (BTCUSD) and other digital assets. This surge follows Donald Trump’s presidential election win.
According to online brokerage, it also offers Cardano or ADAUSD and XRP or XRPUSD for its US customers. It brings total number of cryptocurrencies available to trade to 19.
Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood Crypto’s vice president and general manager, said they’ve consistently heard from customers who want access to more digital assets. He added that they’re excited to continue expanding their crypto offerings. They believe crypto provides an opportunity for those historically left behind by the traditional financial system, thanks to lower barriers to entry.
Bitcoin was trading below $70000 on Election Day. It rose above $93000 for the first time in its history Wednesday. It reflects investor hopes for easier regulation under a Trump White House. Midday Thursday, Bitcoin was trading around $88,000.
During this election cycle, Trump turned crypto believer. He said he’d establish a strategic bitcoin stockpile and encourage growth in the US bitcoin mining industry.
After Trump appointed backers Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead a new DOGE or Department of Government Efficiency, the price of Dogecoin or DOGEUSD and DOGE surged on Wednesday. Dogecoin has more than quadrupled in the previous month as seen by many as the original meme coin with excitement around it based on social hype instead of any utility.
