Mi3 has learned that around one-quarter of the 200 recent redundancies at Tabcorp are coming from its customer team. This is part of the company’s ongoing troubles. Jenni Barnett, the chief customer officer, leads them.

In October, the latest round of cuts at the ASX-listed company kicked off. This occurred during the company’s annual general meeting, following hints from Tabcorp’s previously installed CEO, Gillon McLachlan.
People understand that approximately 50 job cuts will affect the customer division. This encompasses marketing, trading, VIP customers, content and social media platforms, media buying and data and analytics. According to Mi3, only about half a dozen employees remain in the marketing function. Meanwhile, other roles under Barnett’s customer division have a larger headcount. Barnett, a former executive at Commbank and Telstra, became TAB’s first dedicated chief customer officer in May 2022. She oversees digital, data, product, revenue, brand, marketing, sponsorship, and events.
A Tabcorp spokesperson has officially confirmed roles are going across finance, customer, operations, technology and legal.
The statement read that Tabcorp is creating a fitter organization and a new cadence to move more quickly in a changing market. As outlined at the company’s AGM, Tabcorp has an ongoing cost reduction program. They have reduced the number of roles and external consultants to create a simpler and more efficient way of working that can deliver an even better customer experience. Tabcorp acknowledges the significant contribution and service of staff who played a key role in building the foundations of Tabcorp during the first phase of their transformation.
Vanessa Sanford, GM of marketing and media, is among the latest exits. However, she is understood not to be one of the redundancies. She joined the firm in May 2023 from Commbank. On December 17, she finished up at Tabcorp. They have rolled her departure into the latest headcount reduction figure, although she made a voluntary decision. Luke Feddema, head of marketing, brand and campaigns at Tabcorp will become interim acting GM of marketing. This is while the dust settles after the latest employee cuts.
