Developers are creating software to automatically detect illegal online casinos in Ukraine. These casinos often pose as Ukrainian brands but are actually operated from within the Russian Federation.

A group of legal gambling operators has joined forces to jointly fund the development of specialized software. The goal is to detect illegal online casinos. A newly formed industry association is implementing the project. It includes companies with their own IT teams. DOU writes that all in all, they employ more than 900 specialists.
Developers expect the software solution to scan the Ukrainian Internet segment for websites that conduct unlicensed gambling activities. They will prioritize identifying platforms that imitate legal operations and that operators in the Russian Federation actually control.
The association is already cooperating with the PlayCity State Agency, as well as the SBU. Officials will integrate the software into the state monitoring infrastructure. This will speed up restrictions and automate the legal confirmation of illegal status.
In the Ukrainian segment of the Internet, more than 50 illegal online casinos are still operating. Some of them continue to advertise on social networks. They also use the former reputation of Ukrainian brands. Their owners have long maintained ties with the Russian Federation.
In March, the government made the PlayCity agency, a new state regulator against the backdrop. It is a subordinate to the Ministry of Digital Affairs and replaced the liquidated KRAIL. The agency already managed to revoke the license of PIN-UP, a well-known brand after its launch. It is one of the co-founders of which was a Russian citizen.
The development of tools to fight illegal gambling is one of the first public steps of the new industry association. Developers plan to adapt the software solution for manual analysis. They also aim to integrate it more deeply into internet monitoring systems and registries.
