Denmark has hit a new milestone in the gambling world.

The gambling revenue of the country soared to DKK683 million in May of the current year. This is according to the latest figures from Spillemyndigheden. That’s about $107 million. It marks the highest monthly total of the year so far.
If anyone is wondering what fuels this surge? It is no surprise that it’s iGaming.
In May, the biggest winner was the online casino sector. It pulled in DKK389 million. Compared to May of the previous year, that’s a 39.9% increase.
Most of that cash came from slots. It made up a staggering 83.1% of all online casino revenue, around DKK323 million. With 6.4%, Blackjack followed, then roulette with 5%. The rest went to poker, bingo, and other games.
This breakdown is gold if you’re in the online gaming business. It shows where Danish players are spending their money and what games are still dominating the space.
For the meantime, for the month, sports betting brought in DKK154 million. That’s slightly lower than the same time in 2024, but not by much.
The channel breakdown tells an interesting story. Mobile betting dominated with 64.3% of the action. Desktop came in at 22.6%, as well as retail stores made up the remaining 13.1%.
The lead of mobile isn’t surprising, however it’s a good reminder that the shift to mobile-first is not slowing down anytime soon.
Land-based gambling is showing signs of life again after a few slower months.
Slot machines across physical locations earned DKK105 million in May. It is an 8.3% jump from the past year. Compared to April, that is a big improvement, which saw a dip in the same sector.
Most of land-based slot revenue of May came from gaming halls. It contributed 79.7%. On the other hand, restaurants made up the other 20.3%.
