Ontario-licensed iGaming operators are moving quickly to secure early positions in Alberta’s upcoming regulated market. BetRivers is among the first to make its intentions public.

Ahead of Alberta’s shift to a competitive iGaming framework, the Rush Street Interactive brand is letting players sign up early. It has launched a dedicated Alberta pre-registration page.
The early-access rollout positions BetRivers to move quickly once Alberta officially opens its market. Full wagering will remain subject to licensing approval.
The pre-registration launch of BetRivers allows it to market and collect customer sign-ups under provincial rules. It follows PointsBet starting its own Alberta licensing process earlier in February. The initial step is broadly viewed as a catalyst for other Ontario operators to publicly confirm their Alberta plans.
The move supports a broader Canadian expansion strategy for BetRivers, building on its momentum in Ontario. Since launching there in 2022, the operator has focused on a casino-first approach and steadily increased its market share.
Rush Street Interactive CEO Richard Schwartz said Canada remains a priority growth market for BetRivers, with Alberta marking the next exciting step. With an office and large team in Toronto, the company has been investing in Canada for years.
BetRivers is once again teaming up with CBC/Radio-Canada to cover the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy. The collaboration coincides with its Alberta pre-registration launch in Alberta. The deal marks the third Olympic collaboration of BetRivers with CBC.
BetRivers is CBC’s exclusive partner for sports betting and online gaming during Olympic coverage. The brand is also hosting “The Game”, a free-to-play trivia experience where Canadians can test their Olympic knowledge and compete for prizes sponsored by BetRivers.
The Olympic activation reinforces BetRivers’ long-term positioning in Canada as it plans to expand beyond Ontario. It is part of a broader national marketing strategy tied to major cultural and sporting events.
