The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has taken further action to curb illegal online activity. It directed internet service providers (ISPs) to block access to five additional unlicensed gambling and affiliate websites. This move followed investigations that revealed the targeted sites were operating in clear violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The newly restricted platforms include Slot Lounge, Betzillo, FastSpin99, Spinit, and PokiesPros. Each of these websites offered gambling services to Australians without holding the proper licenses to operate legally in the country. By removing access to these sites, the ACMA aims to limit consumer exposure to unsafe and unlawful services.
The authority uses website blocking as a key enforcement measure to protect Australian players. Since November 2019, ACMA has been issuing requests to ISPs. In that time, it has successfully restricted 1,322 illegal gambling sites. This highlights the agency’s ongoing commitment to monitoring the online market and keeping harmful operators at bay.
The regulator also reminded the public that illegal websites often appear legitimate but generally lack crucial consumer safeguards. These missing protections include dispute resolution processes, responsible gambling tools, and secure handling of customer funds. As a result, Australians using unlicensed platforms risk losing their money. They have little to no recourse if disputes arise or winnings are withheld.
To help players make informed choices, ACMA urges consumers to consult its official register of licensed wagering providers. They should do this before engaging with any online service. The register confirms which operators are legally permitted to offer their platforms in Australia. In addition, the authority provides resources for lodging complaints about suspicious or illegal websites. It also offers guidance on staying safe from potential scams.
With continuous monitoring and public cooperation, ACMA remains determined to protect Australians from the risks posed by unlawful online gambling operators.
