Caixa Loterias has received a five-year license to operate the BetCaixa, MegaBet, and Xbet Caixa brands in Brazil.

The SPA, the Brazilian gambling regulator, has granted a Caixa Lotteries a fixed-odds sports betting and gaming license. It is the lottery subsidiary of Caixa Econômica Federal, the state-owned financial institution. The license authorizes Caixa Loterias to operate the BetCaixa, MegaBet, and Xbet Caixa brands. These operations will take place in Brazil’s newly regulated online gambling market and will be valid until 2030.
Caixa and tech provider Playtech have scheduled a presentation of the operating model at Rede Loterérica’s physical stores in São Paulo. This event, part of their implementation strategy, will take place on August 11. The company states that the event will focus on listening to and engaging with lottery retailers.
It has been stated by the institution that this is a time dedicated to listening to the network. They want to understand their reality, listen to their experiences, and gather contributions to jointly design a proposal that generates value for everyone.
For now, as reported by Focus Gaming New Brasil, DEFY has received a license to operate the 1xBet brand in virtual sports betting and online gaming. The government granted the authorizations based on Laws No. 13,756/2018 and No. 14,790/2023.
In other news from Brazil, the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) has confirmed it will audit federal controls on money laundering in the sports betting and online gaming sector. The decision came after the Senate Inquiry Commission identified flaws in Brazil’s new online gambling market control systems. Minister Jorge Oliveira made the call to proceed with the audit.
The audit will assess whether the mechanisms of SPA are effective in preventing manipulation and money laundering. One key focus will be certifying the algorithms used by the platforms and overseeing the entities responsible for conducting audits.
