June’s revenue was comfortably clear of the DKK153 million reported in Denmark last 2023. The total reported by Spillemyndigheden, a Danish regulator. It consists of Denmark gambling revenue from sports betting, online casino, land-based casinos and physical slot machines.
In a month where Euro 2024 kicked off, the sports betting market performed strongly. With 64.1% of this coming from mobile betting, revenue jumped 75.7% year-on-year to DKK271 million.
Euro 2024 started last June 14. It ran to the middle of July. The Denmark national team progressed to the round of 16. However, they were knocked out after losing 2-0 to hosts Germany.
Online casino remains the primary source of gambling revenue in Denmark, generating DKK303 million. This is while sports betting performed strongly in June. This is 27.2% up year-on-year and only marginally behind DKK310 million record from March.
During the month, slots accounted for 76.4% of all online casino revenue. The share of Roulette was 6.7% and blackjack 6.6%, while bingo gave 3.9% of GGR for the vertical.
Revenue from physical slot machines amounted to DKK97 million, up 6.6%, switching attention to the retail market. 79.2% of this came from gambling halls and 20.8% restaurants.
Lastly, land-based casinos generated DKK32 million in revenue last June. This is an increase of 7.1%.
Apart to the revenue data, stats of Spillemyndigheden on self-exclusion showed 50,403 people have self-excluded using the Rofus platform.
33,511 included have blocked themselves from gambling for life. On the other hand, 16,892 chose for temporary exclusion. There were also 32 calls to StopSpillet, the gambling support helpline of the country. It compromises mainly those aged between 26 and 35. Again, most of these are men.
