The William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award it the most prestigious literary prize in the sporting world. It has announced its esteemed judging panel for this year’s competition. The leading broadcaster Gabby Logan joins the line-up.
In 1989, they established the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award. It recognizes outstanding writing across a wide range of genres within the sporting world. Moreover, it has earned its reputation as one of the most coveted literary honors celebrating sports writers globally. Gabby joins Alyson Rudd, Dame Heather Rabbatts, Michelle Walder, Mark Lawson, as well as Clarke Carlisle. They all return from 2023’s panel and will select the William Hill Sports Book of the Year shortlist and ultimately crown the Award’s 36th winner.
Gabby Logan, a former gymnast and esteemed television and radio presenter joins as a judge for the first time. Gabby is highly knowledgeable about sports, having presented various high-profile events across multiple disciplines, including the Olympics, the World Cup, the European Championship, and BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year. As a former athlete herself, she brings a treasure of knowledge and experience to 2024’s panel. In the previous year, she has also released her own memoir, “The First Half”.
Award-winning sports journalist at The Times, Alyson Rudd comes back to lead the panel as Chair for the sixth year in a row. She has authored two sports books herself with two novels. Furthermore, Rudd is also a qualified football coach and referee and has extensive experience in the field to make her an ideal choice to guide the panel in their quest to identify the finest sports book of the year yet again.
For the second time, Dame Heather Rabbatts returns as a judge for the second time. She brings her considerable expertise to the panel.
