The strike action at Evolution‘s live casino in Tbilisi, Georgia, has caused significant disruption. As a result, the iGaming provider has threatened employees with larger-scale layoffs.

Georgian media outlets revealed that at least 5,000 Evolution employees were preparing to strike in Tbilisi from July 12. In early July, workers revealed unsafe and unsanitary workplace conditions, harassment by managers, and inadequate pay as reasons for the strike.
On August 1, the trade union continued its actions despite Evolution maintaining that the strikes would not impact its operations. Evolution also predicted that there would be far fewer than 5,000 strikers. Evo-Union blocks entrances to the live casino studio, preventing non-strikers from performing their duties.
Evolution stated on Facebook that it will make operational adjustments if the situation remains unchanged. This is as a result of the increased strike action. It is also suggesting that it could turn to larger-scale layoffs, reducing its presence in Georgia.
The ongoing situation has been described by the iGaming supplier as highly regrettable. This is because of having spent six years investing in its Georgian operations and the many working employees that will be impacted by the decisions of the company.
Amid numerous live streams depicting the strikes and confrontations with Evolution staff, Evo-Union took to Facebook yesterday. They claimed that the company had spread disinformation.
The post referred to the statements from Evolution. It claims that the supplier had offered employees a 30%-50% pay increase to settle the strike action. It declares that the information provided is not true and serves to contradict employees.
The Georgian news source, Mautskebeli, initially broke the strike news last July. They reported last August 6 that around 2,000 workers did not show up to work as a sign of solidarity. This follows the announcement of Evolution.
