Playtech has released the third edition of its ebook on the Latin American gambling industry. This edition explores player trends, concerns and key interests. It offers expert insights on responsible gaming to industry peers in one of the fastest-growing regions worldwide.
This edition reflects Playtech’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe, fair gambling experience and raising standards in the global online gambling industry. Significant updates and findings from a survey done with 2,500 people across Latin America. Providing a comprehensive overview of public perceptions of the Latin American market, participants from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Colombia shared their experiences as online players. This includes recently unpublished insights.
This year, Brazil and Peru launched online gambling regulations. Player perceptions are shifting too. With only 25% of respondents avoiding betting because of concerns about fraud, as well as gambling-related harm, the new regulations have increased confidence in the sector. With 92% betting every month, as well as 80% of respondents supporting stronger regulations on betting advertisements, Peru has seen the highest rate of frequent players.
77% of respondents in Argentina advocate for stricter regulations on betting advertisements. This is similar to other countries. On the other hand, 88% support stronger age verification policies on betting websites because of challenges with minors playing online. 63% of participants in Chile feel safer using a legal, as well as registered platform. However, only 15% consider themselves fully up to date with current legislation.
Colombia has updated its regulations in the past years. It emerged as the most mature market surveyed. With 58% of Colombians prioritizing this when choosing a gambling platform, fast and reliable payment providers proved essential.
