Provincial police of Ontario are investigating allegations of an illegal online gambling outfit who targets high school students. Bradford Today reports that someone threatened these students with violence if they didn’t pay up.
Orillia police, located in Central Ontario, stated they received reports. The reports indicate that TopBets’s agents have encouraged underage students to sign up. This is the scenario where an unlicensed bookie can provide online gambling services to a specific, localized clientele. Matt Stoner, sergeant of the Orillia Community Mobilization unit, confirmed the arrest and charging. They arrested and charged one individual under the age of 18. The charges included two counts of making death threats.
Stoner informed Bradford Today that the police believe the situation is localized. It involves students from at least one high school in the city. He also said that other victims are believed to have yet to come forward. They also believe other victims have yet to come forward.
