A Lahore district court has formally indicted popular Pakistani YouTuber Ducky Bhai, whose real name is Saadur Rehman. He, along with Aroob Jatoi, his wife, and several other co-accused, face allegations of promoting online gambling and betting applications via social media platforms. The case has attracted widespread attention. Rehman is one of Pakistan’s most-followed digital creators, with more than 10 million subscribers on YouTube.

Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo framed the charges, after which all the accused pleaded not guilty. During the proceedings, the court summoned prosecution witnesses and adjourned hearings until February 23. This step follows an ongoing investigation into the alleged promotion of gambling apps, which are illegal under Pakistani law.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered the case. They claim that Rehman and other influencers promoted online gambling platforms for financial gain. The First Information Report (FIR) lists charges under sections 13, 14, 25, and 26 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016. It also includes sections 294-B and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. These cover activities related to fraudulent practices and illegal online promotions.
Authorities arrested Rehman in August last year. He is a prominent figure in Pakistan’s digital content scene. The arrest was in connection with the same allegations. He remained in custody for nearly three months before obtaining bail from the Lahore High Court in late November. The case has remained under close observation. Authorities and the public are closely watching it. This is due to Rehman’s immense popularity among Pakistani youth. It also reflects the potential implications for social media influencers promoting regulated content.
As the proceedings continue, all eyes are on the Lahore district court to see how the charges unfold. The February 23 hearing is expected to include testimony from prosecution witnesses. Their statements could provide further clarity on the extent of the alleged promotions. The testimony may also shed light on the involvement of Rehman and the other accused parties.
