William Hill will become the new title sponsor of the SPFL, or Scottish Professional Football League. This is according to a number of reports.
The league is looking for a new main sponsor to replace Cinch, the online car retailer, which announced last year that it was ending its deal. Now, reports indicate that William Hill is close to agreeing on a deal to take over.
The deal will be a five-year one according to Mail Sport. It is worth £2 million or $2.5 million per year to Scotland’s top four divisions. This is an increase on the £1.6 million a year deal from Cinch.
The report explains that the £10 million will be a record-breaking one for the Scottish Professional League as a result.
Previously, William Hill held deals with Scottish football. This is having been a sponsor of the Scottish Cup. Meanwhile, it became the official in-stadium betting partner in 2022 of Scottish champion Celtic.
After the league last year refused to ban gambling sponsors of football shirts in after this latest deal came. This is in spite the ban brought by the Premier League in England.
Other significant deals within the footballing world have also emerged in the past weeks. CopyBet partners with QPR to become the official front-of-shirt sponsor of the Championship club.
On the other hand, Betano was announced as the new principal and front-of-shirt partner of Aston Villa. This has been reported to be the biggest front-of-shirt sponsorship in the club’s history.
