Authorities have arrested a Thai TikTok star in Thailand known as Soda at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Soda, the Thai Tiktok star was running a gambling website Zigma911 allegedly. Various social media platforms promoted the website.
The Thaiger says that police conducted raids at six locations in the Isaan province of Nakhon Ratchasima where administrators of the gambling website were operating. Authorities seized computers and tools. Meanwhile, they issued 20 more arrest warrants for other suspects.
Horse racing in Bangkok and the government-sponsored Thai lottery are the only legal forms of gambling in Thailand.
Last May, authorities arrested a Thai model known as Lalada at her condominium in Lat Phrao, Bangkok. She is also allegedly promoting illegal online gambling using her social media channels. Lalada was allegedly encouraging her followers to sign up for online casinos such as Omega9.
In June, the Ministry of Finance of Thailand announced that the final draft of a bill to legalize entertainment complexes with casinos was nearly complete. Sixteen government agencies have had input on the proposal initially drafted by a special House committee. In supplementary documents to the draft, this feedback will be included. The bill will be sent to the Office of the Council of State for more review before being presented to the House of Representatives. This is if it receives cabinet approval.
