After beating third-division champions Arminia Bielefeld 4-2 in the final in Berlin recently, VfB Stuttgart won the 2024/25 DFB Cup.

Stuttgart entered the showpiece as firm favorites on paper, being a Bundesliga side. However, Bielefeld had knocked out four top-flight teams on their way to the final. In the first 25 seconds, Louis Oppie drilled a shot at goal, and Noah Sarenren Bazee narrowly missed turning it in. Arminia remained unfazed by their opponents early on. On 11 minutes, Oppie had a chance to put Bielefeld ahead. He received a cut-back from Joel Grodowski, who had made a strong run down the left. The unmarked forward blasted his shot off the crossbar from close range.
Stuttgart showed no mercy and quickly took the lead. Nick Woltemade rolled past his marker to convert a fine pass from Angelo Stiller. It was 2-0 soon after, thanks to a defensive mix-up. This allowed Deniz Undav to run through and set up Enzo Millot for a simple finish. VfB took a 3-0 lead into the break when Stiller assisted Undav, all but sealing the result.
Both Woltemade and Undav had good chances early in the second half to add to the scoreline but couldn’t capitalize. Millot eventually delivered the knockout blow, collecting a loose pass from Oppie, sprinting into the box, and curling his side’s fourth goal into the far corner. A few minutes later, VfB had the ball in the net again. However, the referee correctly ruled out Atakan Karazor’s close-range header from a corner for offside. Bielefeld nearly pulled one back when Stefano Russo’s powerful strike went through a crowded box and forced a brilliant reflex save from Alexander Nübel.
