Virgin Bet has introduced the “A Grand Isn’t Grand” campaign, in partnership with the Sport Social Podcast Network. It aimed at addressing the rising costs of Premier League season tickets.
The initiative awards £1,000 to each of eight season ticket holders. The competition highlights submitted personal stories and selects the winners. Some clubs have priced tickets above £1,000 or $1,265.
The competition is open to fans based in the United Kingdom. It invites participants to share why they or someone they know deserves the financial support.
When many fans have expressed frustration over the affordability of attending matches, the campaign comes at this time. Leading to growing concerns over accessibility to live games, Premier League ticket prices have seen remarkable increases.
Marketing Director of Virgin Bet, Dominic Vye said that at Virgin Bet, they believe that “A Grand Isn’t Grand” when it comes to the cost of being a football fan. They are committed to making sport accessible for all and with rising season ticket prices, this campaign is their way of supporting fans who help make the sport so special.
Following the efforts of Virgin Bet under its “A Good Bet” brand ethos, this project follows. It includes initiatives to improve accessibility and inclusivity within sports. Previous initiatives have featured collaborations like Women’s Day at Doncaster Racecourse and sponsorships that included safety features for event attendees.
The “A Grand Isn’t Grand” campaign directs to shed light on the issue as ticket prices continue to climb, while offering direct support to a select number of fans facing these rising costs.
